A cover and fully illustrated feature article for The New Yorker. On the cover, a chameleon works the room at a masquerade — a creature built to blend in, balancing a champagne tower it never asked to carry. Inside, the eight-page feature “How to Recover from Caring Too Much” carries the idea through a hand-drawn world of jesters, stage curtains and circus animals, illustrating the fawn response: the quiet art of pleasing everyone but yourself.
